A medical emergency turned Skye’s life upside down. So much strain was put on her family’s weekly budget. The most important priority: putting food on the table for her 3 young kids. 

“We found ourselves in a tricky situation, my husband had to take unpaid carer’s leave because I was having surgery, and suddenly we were down to almost nothing. We were just doing what we could to feed the kids.” – Skye, mum of three.

At that time, all Skye and her husband could do was skip meals. 

Just one instance of bad luck, or a change in circumstance, can send a family to breaking point. Nearly 1 in 3 households in NSW and the ACT are going hungry – skipping meals, eating less than they need, or even going days without food.
